Aural Spaces - Listening Session in 4DSOUND, Puce Mary + Salvador Breed

  • This concert has no intermission

About the concert

During the listening sessions you will hear spatial music especially created for the 4DSOUND system. This selection of sound works showcases a variety of approaches towards spatial sound, in which elements of space, movement and architecture play a defining role in the compositional process. Delve into every corner, lay down on the floor or sit on a comfy chair, open your ears and let yourself be moved by this one-of-a-kind sonic experience.

This listening session features Danish-born artist Puce Mary, Frederikke Hoffmeier and opens with a short piece by sound designer Salvador Breed.

Puce Mary

With a long career in experimental electronic music - Puce Mary has a reputation for intense live performances that span from gripping renditions of cinematic composition to the full-on fury of off-the-cuff harsh noise. For her work in 4DSOUND, commissioned by Monom Studios, Puce Mary explores the immersive effects of psychoacoustics, escorting the listener through a narrative of spoken word, field recordings, cinematic drones and at times abrasive noise music.

Salvador Breed

Salvador Breed creates and sculpts sound and technology for a wide field of contexts like live performances, fashion shows, video-art, and interactive art installations. His work deals with the way in which acoustics, natural ambiance, silence, and space enrich one another, using subtle means to expand our notions of listening, experiencing, and sensing.

Pre-PART is the opening scene of the dance and music performance PART, a collaboration between choreographer Amos Ben-Tal/OFFprojects, Ragazze Quartet and Salvador Breed. PART as a whole explores notions of fragmentation and the potential that emerges out of de-composition of Beethoven’s string quartet opus 132.

Supported by Creative Industries Fund NL and Richard Thomas Foundation. Spatialised at Monom Studios. A sublime surrender. In memory of Ivan / IOANN.
