About the concert

Wiener Maiblumen, a romantic programme of those great fin-de-siècle Viennese sounds, with stellar soprano Lenneke Ruiten in the lead role, combines music with the work of great literary masters. Besides songs and instrumental poems by composers from Schubert to Lehár, and Schönberg's incomparable late-romantic setting of Richard Dehmel's poem Verklärte Nacht (Transfigured Night), there will be some unabashedly nostalgic chestnuts from operetta. Ciconia is bringing the Sachertorte!
