About the concert

In a benefit concert for the Papageno Foundation, the World Doctors Orchestra will play Mahler's Symphony No. 6. The Violin Concerto by Dutch composer Hans Henkemans will be performed by by Jeroen Dupont.

World Doctors Orchestra
The World Doctors Orchestra was founded in 2008 in Berlin by Stefan Willich, and combines the pleasure of fine music with global medical responsibility. Three to four times a year, some 100 physicians from all over the world exchange their white coats for evening attire and perform a benefit concert for medical aid projects. While our daily work focuses on healing one patient at a time, as an orchestra we promote the conviction that neither national borders nor political or economic interests should limit access to basic healthcare.

Mahler and Henkemans
From the forgotten Dutch composer Hans Henkemans we will hear his Violin Concerto, with Jeroen Dupont as soloist. Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 6, 'Tragic', will be played by this orchestra of doctors from all over the world, conductor is Stefan Willich, professor in Medicine, from Berlin.
