Musician, presenter and documentary maker Orville Breeveld has put together a series in which he turns the spotlights on composers with origins in Africa. Tonight: William Grant Still and Samuel Coleridge-Taylor. ‘Imagine: you walk into the Recital Hall’, says Breeveld, ‘and it’s bursting with energy. You see lots of different people, a cross-section of the city of Amsterdam. I’m taking the audience on a journey, and using as much imagery as possible I tell them about the composers of afro-origin who have stolen my heart.' Pianist Hannes Minnaar will play works by William Grant Still and Samuel Coleridge-Taylor.
Please note: narration during this concert is in Dutch.
