About the concert
February 3 marks exactly 50 years since legendary singer Umm Kulthum died at the age of 70. This is why The Concertgebouw is organising the project Umm Al Funun, meaning ‘mother of music’. Singers Nai Barghouti and Ghalia Benali, presenter Abdelkader Benali, Amsterdam Sinfonietta and several Arab musicians will pay a theatrical tribute.
