Wim Van Hasselt, a former member of the trumpet section of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, belongs to the top celebrities of the trumpet world. Together with a starpianist Vital Stahievitch they play a brilliant program called MilleFeulle – crispy layers of French and Russian music with preludes by Sergei Rachmaninov in-between.

'Millefeuille' in French, or 'Napoleon cake' in Russian, is a famous national dessert made with about sixteen layers of delicious crispy dough filled with creamy custard. This is exactly the way MilleFeuille is put together: a rich and delicious program from French-Russian music heritage in multiple layers.
Trumpet player Wim Van Hasselt and pianist Vital Stahievitch form a permanent duo and present a colorful repertoire for classical trumpet together. Their collaboration started at the Conservatory of Amsterdam where Wim was giving lessons, and Vital teaches still. After several performances in Switzerland, Belgium and the Netherlands, they reached the peak of two concert tours around Japan in 2014 and 2017, including concerts in the famous Tokyo Opera City Hall. The MilleFeuille program by Wim Van Hasselt and Vital Stahievitch is made up of masterpieces by French and Russian composers, in which music for trumpet and piano (the crispy dough) is delicately alternated with preludes by Rachmaninoff (the creamy custard).
