Performing composers, something of the past? Not at all! The 17-year old cellist and composer Thomas Prechal and pianist Natasja Douma take you into a personal story along works of the cellist himself, the poetic Schumann, cello-fanatic Popper and the great Rachmaninov.

Chamber Music
Multiple (inter)national prize winner 17-year-old Thomas Prechal presents himself to you in this special debut recital. Freshly accepted into the prestigious Conservatoire de Paris, this multi-talent is ready to share with you his intense way of music-making. Composing and performing: in this recital, Thomas, together with pianist Natasja Douma, will share with you how these two elements are inextricably linked, among others in his own composition, the compelling Sonata for cello and piano (2021).
In addition to Prechal's Sonata, a dreamy Romance by pianist Robert Schumann and the spectacular Variations on a Little Russian Theme by cellist David Popper are on the program. The concert concludes with pianist Sergei Rachmaninov's monumental Cello Sonata: through an intensive and in-depth artistic research project that Thomas and Natasja have undertaken over the past two years, they hope to be able to share deeper layers of this emotional composition with you.
